Community on tenterhooks over planning application

The Rodborough Fields Preservation Group would like to thank all the hundreds of people who visited their stall at the Rodborough Community Fete. Many visitors expressed their concern at the outline planning application submitted last week by developers. The plans include house building on Rodborough Fields and a two lane road bridge over the river at Frome Banks.

Have you walked in Rodborough Fields? We may need your help…

Hello to all our supporters – we would like your help if you have ever walked in Rodborough Fields. We are looking to have some of the paths that have been used for many decades across Rodborough Fields to be listed as public rights of way. If you (or your family, & friends) have ever used any of these three routes;

We are delighted to report that Frome Banks Nature Reserve has been registered as an ‘Asset of Community Value’. A number of local organisations, including charitable trusts and local councils have worked together to have this area recognised for it’s value and use by the community. Discussions will be ongoing to ensure this key site is managed to benefit wildlife and for the continued enjoyment of residents and visitors to Stroud.

Fabulous support at the public exhibition

On behalf of the Rodborough Fields Preservation Group we would like to thank the hundreds of people that attended the public exhibition at The Imperial Hotel on the 29th January. We’ve had fabulous cross party support from local councillors and a hand delivered letter of support from the Stroud MP. Visitors came from as far afield as Devon. Many came from other Gloucestershire towns to show their appreciation for the Stroud Valleys landscape and AONB. Please continue to check the website for updates and sign our petition to stay informed.

Rodborough Fields & Frome Banks under threat

Rodborough Fields and Frome Banks are woven into the historical, social, physical and emotional fabric, not only of Rodborough, but of Stroud and the Five Valleys. The plans for a new housing development on the fields threaten to tear through that fabric, destroying a site of significance for many people, important to them all for a number of different reasons.
