Second application on Rodborough Fields refused by Stroud District Council Planning Department

Stroud District Council have refused the second outline planning application on Rodborough Fields and Frome Banks. The developers – Lioncourt Homes will have a 6 month period until July 8th 2015 to submit an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate. The planning department at SDC cited several local and national planning policies in their refusal. The primary reasons for refusal are the irreparable damage caused to key wildlife sites and rare wildlife habitats. You can download the full decision notice below. Decision-1584868

Weavers & Workhouse Walk

The Weavers & Workhouse Walk was held on 9th July. We enjoyed a magical summers evening stroll and learned about the radical history of the Stroud Valleys, the mills and the racking fields of Rodborough. We were guided by Stuart Butler and paused for some historic anecdotes – acted by John Bassett.

Rodborough Fields & Frome Banks under threat

Rodborough Fields and Frome Banks are woven into the historical, social, physical and emotional fabric, not only of Rodborough, but of Stroud and the Five Valleys. The plans for a new housing development on the fields threaten to tear through that fabric, destroying a site of significance for many people, important to them all for a number of different reasons.
